Bearded Irises | Iris x germanica
Available to order: August-April
Iris × germanica, known as the Bearded Iris or German Iris, is a spring-flowering, rhizomatous perennial prized for its architectural blooms and vast colour range. Bearded irises are among the easiest flowers to grow in South Africa. They are frost hardy and drought resistant, making them an excellent addition to a waterwise garden and a beautiful complement to Summer-flowering perennials. Bearded irises pair especially well with daylilies, together they can create an extended, layered sequence of colour from Spring into Summer. Some varieties will rebloom during Autumn.
Care tips:
• Plant in full sun in well-draining soil, rhizomes prefer to sit just at soil level.
• Water sparingly once established, divide clumps every 3–4 years to maintain vigour.
Sold and shipped bare-root (ex-ground).
